Hoh Rainforest and Rialto Beach on the Olympic Coast
Hoh Rainforest and Rialto Beach on the Olympic Coast
The last two days of our Olympics adventure were spent hiking to Five-Mile Island along the Hoh River, and along the Pacific coastline from Rialto Beach to Hole-in-the-Wall.

The Hoh River trail is popular with backpackers heading 18 miles into the interior to climb Mount Olympus. We did not go that far, but it was still an amazing landscape to explore.

Lush greenery. Amazingly, it did not rain at all during our trip.

Talk about old growth forests...we'd grow old just trying to count those rings!

Hole-in-the-Wall at high tide. During low tide, you can walk through it and among the tide pools teeming with life. Unfortunately, our timing was a bit off.

We built this cairn out of sea-washed pieces of driftwood that looked like pebbles.
