The Berlin Wall

We saw several different sections of the remaining pieces of the Berlin Wall. There is currently much controversy over whether to preserve or not.

The East Side Gallery is the longest remaining stretch of the wall.

Everyone complies with this small sign, which prohibits defacing the wall.

The Berlin Wall Memorial on Bernauer Strasse (one side of the street was in East Berlin and the other in West Berlin). This was originally a cemetery wall but was then reinforced in 1980.

Pieces of the original inner wall. Trees have been planted around them to prevent them from reforming into a wall.

A ghost station today. During the cold war, western trains ran through this station in the east without stopping.
