Conch shells

IMG_8456.jpg

Hmm. Looks like a slight problem with the starter.

IMG_8497.jpg

Four beautiful rental cottages clustered on the north shore at Keel Point.

IMG_8498.jpg

We took an hour-long walk from Keel Point to Cow Wreck Bay with Debbie and Suzanne. We didn't see anyone else on our walk.

IMG_8504.jpg

We've got good reason for smiliness!

IMG_8515.jpg

What is this? An item from another civilization??

Mastering the art of silliness

IMG_8528.jpg

IMG_8535.jpg

This little critter is the sandpiper of crabdom. It kept running to the shore, then bracing itself and getting battered by waves.

Cow Wreck Beach

IMG_8542.jpg

IMG_8543.jpg

Bill C and G played a short game of... Dart. (Since there was only one dart!)

IMG_8547.jpg

Even though it was windy, it was perfect for relaxing.

IMG_8554.jpg

Pristine beach.

IMG_8559.jpg

Wild cows roam the island. This one was down the beach from Neptune's Treasure.

Sunset from Neptune's pier

IMG_8573.jpg

Ending each day at the outdoor bar...

IMG_8581.jpg

and playing Scrabble, of course!

IMG_8584.jpg

The blue boat, Argus III, belongs to the Soares family who runs Neptune's and provides fresh seafood for its restaurant.

IMG_8587.jpg

Wild goats also roam the island

IMG_8592.jpg

Walking to Cooper's Rock on the north shore.

IMG_8593.jpg

IMG_8594.jpg

IMG_8595.jpg

As you can see, this coral island is VERY flat. The highest point is only about 20 feet above sea level.

IMG_8596.jpg

once part of the reef. now part of the road!

IMG_8597.jpg

If we'd seen anyone else, they'd think we'd kidnapped Bill C. and gagged him. Luckily we didn't see anyone else!

IMG_8615.jpg

IMG_8618.jpg

IMG_8620.jpg

Lots of flotsam drifts up onto the beach.

IMG_8621.jpg

It was a bit too windy for snorkeling this day...

IMG_8623.jpg

But a perfect day for soaring! (if you're a pelican, that is)

IMG_8624.jpg

IMG_8625.jpg

A jerry-rigged Caribbean chaise lounge!

IMG_8626.jpg

IMG_8635.jpg

Two kids

IMG_8637.jpg

This beach-front cottage near the West End Point is now a bit TOO close to the beach. Storms last year must've washed much of the beach away.

IMG_8649.jpg

IMG_8656.jpg

Tortola in the distance. Approaching Anegada by ferry, you cannot see the island until you're almost at the ferry dock because it is so flat!

IMG_8749.jpg

IMG_8751.jpg

This was G's view of Bill R for most of her vacation!

IMG_8752.jpg

IMG_8756.jpg

IMG_8758.jpg

On this day there were four others at Cooper's Rock. And this man caught a big fish!

IMG_8759.jpg

IMG_8761.jpg

On Neptune's dock, awaiting the return of the Argus III--and dinner!

IMG_8764.jpg

A view of Neptune's from the dock

IMG_8765.jpg

IMG_8773.jpg

Fresh Caribbean lobster awaiting their fate. Yum. These guys are built a lot different than their Maine brethren.

IMG_8776.jpg

The wind has died down considerably and sailboats have arrived at Anegada from other islands. It had been so windy that the annual Dark & Stormy regatta was cancelled.

Help! I'm trapped!

IMG_8812.jpg

A photo of our room at Neptune's. There's a mini-fridge in the wicker cabinet.

IMG_8813.jpg

Our bed. Actually two beds. With a scary ravine in the middle.

IMG_8814.jpg

A serene place to paint.

or to eat Spaghetti-Os, if you're so inclined!

There's always a cruise ship (or two or three!) at the port. They each hold a few tourists.
