The Shanghai Museum

There was so much at this spectacular museum! We spent hours here and only saw about 1/3 of the collection. We wandered through the minority cultures exhibit, the furniture exhibit, the ceramics exhibit, and a visiting exhibit focused on Rembrandt! Judy had warned us not to go through the ceramics exhibit backwards, yet we somehow ended up doing exactly that. The photos are roughly in reverse chronological order--modern pieces first, then ancient pieces at the end. Sorry!

Ming desk. We much preferred the clean look of the Ming furniture to the opulent and gaudy Qing furniture.

This was either set up to mimic a workshop, or they actually bring in artisans to create pieces at the museum.
