Memorable Day on the Mall

The National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) opened on Tuesday earlier this week, accompanied by a week-long celebration of musicians, dancers, and artisans. We were able to go to the opening night music performance after work and heard Buffy Sainte-Marie and Lila Downs. The NMAI was open continuously for the first 24 hours and there were music performances until midnight and a midnight screening of "Doe Boy." Our plan had been to hear some music, then head home for dinner, then head back for more music and the film, and possibly a walk through the museum around 3a. But after a full day's work, our energy levels dropped once home. So we decided to catch as much as possible on Saturday, spending the entire day down on the Mall.
