Day Five: Kyoto Imperial Palace and Hiking up Daimonji-san
We toured the Gosho (Kyoto Imperial Palace), hiked to the top of Daimonji-san. Daimonji-san is a
mountain in Kyoto that has an enormous dai (Chinese character for "great") that is
lit on fire once each year. It is visible all year-long... just not always flaming.
Afterwards we went to two temples (Honen-in and Nanzen-ji) and went into town and had a delicious Shabu-Shabu dinner, where you cook paper-thin slices
of beef in a hotpot at your table. Yum!
